@hydreams
Tim “Menyelek” Coleman emerges as a multifaceted creative force, seamlessly blending photography, creative direction, education, and production. His journey began with the nurturing influence of his Belizean grandmother, who inspired his passion for photography and storytelling during his formative years.
Over the past decade, Menyelek has made Los Angeles his creative base, building a distinguished career in photography and cinematography. His lens captures the intricate stories of Black life across the United States and the Caribbean, offering a profound exploration of cultural nuance and identity.
Menyelek’s primary focus lies in still photography, with a passion for capturing the artistry behind creative projects. His work spans documenting behind-the-scenes moments on major film and TV productions, chronicling artists on tour, and visually narrating the process of significant projects for high-profile clients.
This commitment to capturing authentic, candid moments has made him a trusted collaborator for projects that demand depth and creativity.
In 2025, Menyelek celebrates the 4th year of the Breddah Cliff Augustine Film Photography Camp in Belize, a transformative program he co-founded. Entirely self-funded by KISO and the community, the camp empowers Belizean youth to explore photography as a means of self-expression and entrepreneurship. This endeavor has inspired Menyelek’s transition to living in Belize full-time, allowing him to expand the camp’s impact while maintaining active collaborations with clients in Los Angeles.
Recently, Menyelek served as the creative director for Left Brain of Odd Future
Camp Flog Gnaw Festival, overseeing stage visuals, coordinating production and capturing the event on analog film.
In 2024, he documented the rise of West Coast culture from the front lines, bringing his unique visual style to a defining moment in music and artistry.
Guided by his Southern roots and Caribbean heritage, Menyelek’s work transcends traditional boundaries, preserving cultural narratives and amplifying the beauty of Black life.
Whether behind the scenes of major productions, on tour with artists, or creating with new collaborators, Menyelek remains dedicated to transforming ideas into evocative, timeless visuals.
Menyelek is available for bookings and free to travel worldwide.
